Note: Before proceeding, make sure ✓ ANC-120e Driver is installed (Only if using ANC-120e) ✓ Network Adapter is correctly configured
Note: Before proceeding, make sure 1. Open “RSLinx Classic” 2. Click on “Communications” menu 3. Click on “Configure Drivers 4.

About ANC-120e USB to Data Highway Plus (DH+) Converter The ANC-120e allows you to connect a computer using a free
About ANC-100e The ANC-100e allows you to connect a computer on an Ethernet network to a DH+ network and communicate
Automation Networks ANC-100e Ethernet communications between Ignition HMI SCADA and SLC 5/04s & PLC-5s on AB’s Data Highway Plus (DH+).
PLC-5 controllers on DH+ (Data Highway Plus) networks are still in operation in many industrial settings. PLC-5 on DH+ were widely used in industrial automation during the 1980s and 1990s.
The best driver to use in RSLinx Classic is the Ethernet Devices driver. Specify the IP Address of the ANC-100e
There are several OPC servers that have been tested or are known to work through ANC-100e running the DH+ bridge firmware:
The ANC-100e and ANC-120e can communicate with any of the 77 nodes on DH+ which includes the Controllogix 1756-DHRIO DH+
Yes, ANC-100e are capable of communicating via EtherNet/IP with a control Logix system that has a redundant processor.
The default IP Address is 192.168.137.2
If the NS or NET LED is not solid green then check the recommendations below:
1) For networks running at 57k6 or 115k2 bauds it is necessary to have 150 ohm resistors on each end of the network (for 230k4 use 82 ohm resistors)
2) Ensure that at least 10′ or 3 meters of cable is used between gateway and any surrounding nodes
3) Ensure that the outer braided shield has been grounded in one place to reduce noise
Here is a Software list of products that work the ANC DH+ converters. These software packages can access the ANC-100e with an Ethernet/IP port and the ANC-120e with a USB port, both using Controllogix Ethernet/IP drivers :
The ANC-100e’s Data Highway Plus firmware does not have a specific limit on the number of nodes it can communicate with (beyond the inherent limits of the DH+ protocol itself), however, be aware that DH+ is a serial based token passing protocol, and thus there will be significant delays in update rates for each additional node on the network that may hold the token.
SLC full name is “Small Logic Controller”. The first SLC, Known simply as an SLC500, was an integrated platform containing the CPU, power supply, and IO all in one package. with 1K of memory and was used in small i/o application
Nowadays with so many technological updates the serial ports or the PCMCIA slots are outdated. Meaning that the new options in computer hardware doesn’t contain them.
I have a client who has a system that includes qty 3 of AB SLC 5/04, one Panelview 1000 and a PC connected to one of the SLC 5/04s via DF1 port and doing logging. Client would like to upgrade this system but it controls plant refrigeration and it is not possible to shut it down for any length of time. I am thinking of adding the ANC-100e to get the DH+ onto Ethernet. Then I would replace the data collection PC first by collecting the data to a server via DH+ to Ethernet, then replace the Panelview 1000 with screens on the new PC platform via Ethernet then finally migrate the functionality out of the SLC’s step by step. Once it is done I will just have the new system on Ethernet and no longer require the ANC-100e.
